Francisco Álvarez has been distinguished for his active participation in the civil Dominican society, being involved in numerous legislative reforms and the reform of the Judicial Branch carried out in the country.

Francisco Álvarez has academic experience as a professor of the Law Faculty of the Pedro Henríquez Ureña University (UNPHU), and currently as a Contract Law professor at the Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra (PUCMM).
Mr. Álvarez received his Bachelor of Laws, Magna Cum Laude, from Universidad Nacional Pedro Henríquez Ureña in 1979. He has a Postgraduate Specialization Course in Constitutional Law of the Dominican Republic from University Castilla La Mancha, and in 2012 he obtained his Masters Degree in Constitutional Law and Public Law from University Castilla La Mancha. Furthermore, Mr. Álvarez participated in the Advanced PIDA Seminar regarding Commercial International Arbitration before the International Chamber of Commerce in 2008. He is fluent in Spanish and English.
