We are convinced that the transformation of our society requires the participation and commitment of everyone, which is why many of our partners and associates actively participate in non-profit activities for the common good. We do this through:

  1. Business associations

    Organized business plays a key role in the discussion of public policies and the country's economic development. Headrick actively participates in the main business associations in the Dominican Republic, either as an institution or through the direct participation of its partners.

National Council of Private Enterprise (CONEP)

CONEP is the main umbrella organization for the Dominican business sector. Marisol Vicens, Senior Partner at the Firm, has been actively involved since 2003, representing CONEP before bodies such as the National Social Security Council, participating in strategic forums such as the National Pact for the Reform of the Electricity Sector, and coordinating the Energy and Hydrocarbons Committee for many years. Since 2010, she has been a member of its Board of Directors, holding the position of Vice-Secretary.

National Association of Young Entrepreneurs (ANJE)

Several Headrick partners are members of ANJE. Marisol Vicens was president of the association in 2003, while Francisco Álvarez and Sarah De León, both partners at the firm, have served on its Board of Directors.

Employers' Confederation of the Dominican Republic (COPARDOM)

COPARDOM represents the interests of private employers before entities such as the Ministry of Labor, the National Social Security Council, and the International Labor Organization (ILO). Marisol Vicens is the former president of this confederation.

American Chamber of Commerce of the Dominican Republic

Headrick maintains an active participation in the American Chamber of Commerce, especially through its Legal Committee. Mary Fernández, Founding Partner, has been chair of this committee and is currently a member of the Chamber's Board of Directors. In addition, several associates collaborate on an ongoing basis in its activities.

Association of Industries of the Dominican Republic (AIRD)

The umbrella organization for the country's industrial associations, which plays a very active role in the discussion of all economic, commercial, financial, and regulatory issues. Marisol Vicens, Senior Partner at the Firm, has been its legal advisor since 2004.

Santo Domingo Chamber of Commerce and Production

In addition to its functions as the capital city's chamber of commerce, it manages the Commercial Registry of companies registered in Santo Domingo, which are the majority, as well as the Alternative Dispute Resolution Center. Mary Fernández, Founding Partner of the Firm, is a member of the Center, and several partners are on its list of arbitrators. Marisol Vicens, Senior Partner of the Firm, was Vice-Secretary of the Chamber's Board of Directors for several years.

  1. Civil society institutions

Participación Ciudadana

Non-partisan civic movement focused on promoting political, institutional, and democratic reforms. Francisco Álvarez, Founding Partner of the Firm, has been the movement's coordinator on two occasions and an active member of its Political Commission.

Foundation for Institutionality and Justice (FINJUS)

FINJUS is a leading institution in matters of institutionality and justice. Mary Fernández, Founding Partner, was a member of its Board of Directors for several years, eventually becoming its Chair. Other partners at the Firm collaborate as speakers at workshops, seminars, and specialized panels.

National School of the Judiciary

Headrick maintains an ongoing collaborative relationship with the National School of the Judiciary, the entity responsible for training judges in the Dominican Republic. This collaboration has included joint publications, such as Headrick's Legal Compendium, as well as seminars and workshops. William C. Headrick, Founding Partner and current Of Counsel, has taught numerous courses and published works in conjunction with the institution.

Ibero-American University (UNIBE)

Several partners at the firm are graduates and former professors at UNIBE. Headrick has developed academic collaboration agreements, including legal publications and seminars taught by William C. Headrick.

Santo Domingo Institute of Technology (INTEC)

Leading university in economics and engineering. Mary Fernández, Founding Partner, is a member of the INTEC Board of Trustees.

CEDIMAT

The Center for Diagnosis and Advanced Medicine and Medical Conferences and Telemedicine (CEDIMAT) is one of the most advanced healthcare institutions in the region. Marisol Vicens, Senior Partner, has been a member of its Honorary Board since 2004. CEDIMAT develops healthcare programs for vulnerable populations and medical conferences that have saved the lives of numerous patients.

Santo Domingo Tennis Club (La Bocha)

Renowned sports club with an outstanding track record in sports training, especially in tennis. Roberto Rizik, Founding Partner of the Firm, is Chairman of its Board of Directors.

  1. Pro Bono Organizations

Headrick is a member of TrustLaw, an initiative of the Thomson Reuters Foundation that connects law firms with non-profit organizations and social entrepreneurs who require pro bono legal assistance.
The Firm has also signed the Pro Bono Declaration of the Americas, managed by The Cyrus R. Vance Center for International Justice, an organization dedicated to promoting global justice, strengthening civil society, and ethical and socially active advocacy.
