History and evolution of a leading firm

A cutting-edge firm with nearly four decades of experience

Headrick was founded in 1985 by William C. Headrick, Roberto Rizik Cabral, Francisco Álvarez Valdez, and Mary Fernández Rodríguez, professionals who already had solid experience in various areas of law and a modern vision of legal practice. From its inception, the firm distinguished itself as one of the first in the Dominican Republic to form a law firm not based on family ties, marking a milestone in the professionalization of the local legal sector.
In the early 2000s, Headrick underwent a period of consolidation and growth with the addition of new partners, including Marisol Vicens Bello, and later Sarah De León Perelló, Tomás Hernández Metz, Luisa Nuño Núñez, and Julio Camejo Castillo, who contributed decisively to strengthening the professional team and diversifying the practice areas. During this same period, Dr. William C. Headrick retired as an active partner in 2002, remaining associated with the Firm as external counsel (of counsel).

At the same time, Headrick was able to adapt to the profound economic, political, and regulatory transformations in the country, accompanying the evolution of the Dominican economy toward a service-based model, the development of tourism, export processing zones, telecommunications, the electricity sector, and the opening up to foreign investment. The firm actively participated—through some of its partners—in key reform processes and prepared to advise its clients in the face of a new legal framework marked by fundamental laws that redefined the national legal landscape.
Currently, in addition to its nine partners, Headrick has a team of more than thirty associate attorneys, as well as highly qualified paralegals and administrative staff, who provide services with the highest standards of quality and professional rigor. This track record, combined with its ability to adapt and its strategic vision, has consolidated Headrick as one of the leading law firms in the Dominican Republic, with a solid reputation both nationally and internationally.
